Paying it Forward.

I'm working on listening to my gut more.

While traveling recently my husband misplaced his wallet. As he was on the plane a random passenger overheard him saying he'd misplaced his wallet. The strangers first words to my husband were, "I overheard you misplaced your wallet. Is there anything I can do to help? Do you need any cash?"

My husband declined but proceeded to chat with the man and became good friends with him over the course of the of the flight. Both me and my husband were so surprised that a random stranger was so willing to help.

Today while driving I saw a homeless man on the corner with a sign that said, "Homeless and hungry, anything helps". For some reason I had a strong feeling to do something for this specific man... I felt as if I was going to be sick if I didnt. So I stopped at Target and brought him back a sandwich and drink for dinner. As I handed it to him he flashed me a toothless grin and said, "Thank you so much."

I'm not sure why I felt so strongly to do something for this man... but I think a lot of it came from the random stranger being so nice to my husband on the plane. I felt I had to pay it forward.

I realize that its tabboo to share stories like this with others... especially over social media. I debated for a long time whether I should post it or not.

My intentions of sharing this story isn't to draw attention to my small act of kindness but to prompt anyone reading this to be in tune with their intuition and to recognize opportunities to impacts someone's life for the better. My heart was warmed by the random stranger on the plane. You never know if your small act of kindness will create a cascade of acts of kindness... ripling and multiplying from person to person... prompting others to pay it forward just as the stranger on the plane has done for us.

And even if just one of you reading this does this at the next opportunity... then this post was worthwhile. :)
