Fertility Update

So I went on day 21 of my cycle and had all those labs drawn. Testosterone, progesterone, prolactin, thyroid, and fasting blood glucose.

Before I found out the results I called my mother-in-law convinced I had low progesterone and that's why I wasn't getting pregnant. Irregular peroids, acne, weight carried in abdominal area (that would be nice to blame on something hahaha)... there were a whole slew of symptoms and I was thinking that's it! It's a low progesterone level! If you progesterone level is low then your body doesn't create a uterine lining that's good for implantation, making it difficult to get pregnant.

So today when I was in the TJ Maxx restroom the nurse called me from the doctors office. And she told me... all my levels are normal! So that's good I guess. I say "I guess" because I almost was wishing we would figure out if there was a reason that it's taking a while to get pregnant. Yeah I know, we are going on 9 months. It's not that long. But still it would have been nice to figure something out... even though I'm grateful that my bodies hormones are all nice and regular (thanks bod! You're awesome.) P.S. Sorry to the lady in the TJ Maxx restroom who heard my whole conversation... It's not my fault you're so stealthy I couldn't hear your presence. Yes you heard right, I ovulated this month. lol.

So on to the next tests! Unless I get pregnant this month (fingers crossed).

  1. I can totally relate to being bummed out that the test results are normal. That's how mine have been with my health problems until recently and it's so frustrating! Good that things are normal but hard not to have an answer. I hope things work out for you soon and that you're holding a baby in your arms! Sending you peace until then!

  2. Have they tried doing the intrauterine x-ray? I'm not 100% how it works but they basically flush dye into your Fallopian tubes to see if you have a blockage on one side or both. I never had it done although I'm convinced that one of mine is blocked because I only got a period every other month and had been on Letrozole 2.5-5mg from days 3-7 of my cycle. It's basically like Clomid only the chances of having multiples is a lot less and has less harsh side effects (like mood swings, etc). Anyways! A friend of mine got that x-ray done and it did show a blockage so she went in for a very minor procedure and conceived within two months. Wishing you all the best! Sometimes, these things just take time. My husband and I tried for just shy of two years before we finally conceived. I know it sucks hearing people tell you that but it'll definitely happen when you're least expecting it! Good luck!!

  3. I've been following your blog forever, so first let me say I really enjoy reading. I had a similar experience. Couldn't get pregnant, same symptoms and my labs were 'normal' too. I was at a healthy weight etc. For months i tried everything. Finally, I said what the heck and went on a 3500 calorie 'diet' with full fat ice cream, lots of pb etc. I did zero formal workouts and... it worked for me. I ovulated about 2 months after being consistent and today my baby turned 9 months old. I'm not saying this would or would not work. But, it reset my body and my hormones. Even though the labs were normal my doc did say it may not have been normal for my body.
