Moving Jake into a big boy bed and our new 4sleep mattress!

We have put off moving Jake into a big boy bed for a while... I mean kid was two and a half years old and still sleeping in his crib. It worked for us because he never ended up consistently climbing out of his crib so we just rode it out. 

4sleep mattresses contacted me about collaborating and I was stoked, perfect timing because we were just about to buy Jake a big boy mattress and bed! We debated the sizes... toddler bed, twin bed, full bed? And here is what we reasoned down to... why should we keep on investing in different size beds as he grows? Kid is going to be way over 6 feet tall one day, we might as well just bite the bullet and invest in a good size bed first thing. So we ended up getting a full.

Now let me talk about this mattress. You know I don't praise things unless I really believe in them... this thing is amazing. Literally Sam and I are jealous that Jake gets to have this 4sleep mattress because it's on another level. Let me tell you a little about it:

• Cooling- Have you ever slept on a memory foam mattress and then woke up sweating? You have to be careful getting a memory foam mattress because certain foam mattresses can make you so hot in the night. The 4sleep matress pulls uses advanced technology memory foam that pulls heat away from your body and down through the mattress.
• Sensitive Layer- This layer of memory foam cools you but also can transfer heat back to your body to allow you to maintian an optimal sleeping body temperature of 87 to 90 degrees.  
• Energizing Layer- This 1.5” layer is super resilient foam has been specially engineered to perfectly map to your body’s unique pressure points as you move throughout the night. The result is superior pressure relief and support. This prevents your body from sinking or cratering or getting “stuck” in your mattress. The mattress is rated a 7 out of 10 on mattress softness (1 being softest 10 being hardest) typically I like really soft beds but this mattress has just enough give to absorb all your bodies pressure points, minimizing tossing and turning in the night and making it so you wake up refreshed.
• Supportive Layer- This high density support foam maintains the correct balance between conforming comfort and proper support. The quality of this layer ensures the mattress has the endurance and longevity you come to expect from a 100% U.S. made memory foam mattress.
• Side Edge Support System- When Sam and I were buying our first mattress as newly weds we made the mistake of getting a mattress without a good edge support system. Who knew you had to check for that stuff? Not us! We both like sleeping on the very edge of the bed and the mattress we initially got didn't have a support system for that, meaning if you lay on that side it would compress and you would roll right off. The 4sleep mattress has a support system that gently nudges you away from the edge so you don't end up face first on your bedroom floor.

i've never felt like a mattress guru, but now I do and this mattress is worth the investment. Now back to moving Jake into the bed... So usually when I would put Jake down to sleep we had a specific routine. Bath time, pajamas, reading a book together, and then I could just put him in his crib and he would lay their quietly until he fell asleep. It's been different since we moved him into the big boy bed because it's not enclosed like a crib. For now I will lay with him until he falls asleep and then I will go back into my bed... if he wakes up in the night I will just lay with him again and usually sleep the rest of the night in there.

I'm really just taking it slow and steady with him. I want him to feel safe in his new big boy bed so I don't have a problem laying there with him. Eventually I'm hoping that he will just be so used to his big boy bed that we can go back to our normal routine but until then I don't mind our new routine.

Also, I love that mattress sooo... ya know. It's not too bad! My spine has been hurting ever since I got hurt while wakeboarding in August, but whenever I sleep in his mattress I wake up without any pain. It's awesome!
