Marshmallow Christmas Wreaths

Wednesday, December 16, 2015

When I think of Christmas THIS is the taste that comes to mind. I could eat the whole batch. I have eaten the whole batch... But that's a story for another time. Let's just keep that between me and you!

This recipe comes from my Swedish grandma farmor... And I believe she got it from my grandpas side of the family.

Ingredients
5 cups of corn flakes
10 oz bag of Kraft Jet Puffed Marshmallows
1/2 cup unsalted butter
1/2 tsp green food coloring
2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract

Instructions
1. In a large pan combine butter and marshmallows over low heat.
2. Stir frequently until marshmallows are melted (don't be tempted to turn the heat up... They'll burn and make the treats hard once they cool!)
3. Stir in green food color and vanilla .
4. Stir in corn flakes with spatula. Stir and flip until corn flakes are completely covered with mixture. Stir until marshmallow mixture begins going "stringy" while you stir.
5. On parchment paper (wax paper) drop and form small "wreaths". You should get at least 20 out of this recipe... If not more.
6. Cut hot tamales in half (or you can use red hots... I prefer cutting hot tamales so my teeth don't break haha!)
7. Place halved hot tamales on wreaths as "ornaments".
8. Let cool and enjoy!

These Christmas recipes are some that have been passed down through my family for years, so I wanted to share them with you! I'll also be posting a recipe for some Swedish chewy toffee... So stay tuned!
